Israel camped in the plain of Moab and that was enough to make Moab sick with dread. King Balak of Moab sent his messengers to Balaam at Pethor to come and curse Israel for him. Balak promised Balaam great honour for the service. Balaam kept the messengers overnight to get a response from God and it was, "You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed." Only a third of the message was sent to Balak so he decided to send princes more numerous and more honourable than the first time and with the promise to greatly honour him. Balaam went to inquire from God again and God knew that Balaam desired King Balak's honour, so He let him go but only to speak His word to Balak. In Balaam's madness for great honour, he almost got killed by the angel of the LORD for not seeing what his donkey saw. In his hurry to meet King Balak, thrice he beat his donkey who was trying to save him from sudden death and then the donkey spoke in a human voice. Balaam told King Balak to build seven altars with seven bulls and seven rams; and to stand by his burnt offering while Balaam went to inquire from God as though God would change His mind. Instead, he was commanded by God to bless Israel. This happened twice and the third time, Balaam did not go to inquire from God anymore because he got the message and so did King Balak who terminated Balaam's appointment and they parted company. As you remain in Christ, your blessings from the Lord God are irrevocable, in Jesus name. AMEN! AMEN!
